Guide to Assessment and Installation

Assessment:

The assessor will:Assessor - inspecting walls

  • Check your walls are suitable for cavity wall insulation and are not already insulated
  • Require access to your external walls
  • Drill one hole in each elevation of your property
  • Ensure the holes are sealed
  • Check the safe operation of any gas or solid fuelled appliances in your property and advise if extra ventilation is required at point of installation
  • Assessor - completing assessment paperworkProvide you with a copy of the completed survey outlining the nature of the work to be undertaken, and any necessary additional chargeable works and the total cost payable by you

Installation:

Ensure your driveway is clear for our installation van
Speak to neighbours if access is required and warn of potential minor disruption
Close windows and doors
Move breakable items away from walls and window sills
Have a hose ready if you want fitters to wash down after drilling
Upon completion check premises and sign a form to confirm the work has been carried out to your satisfaction

Customer information:

  • Cavity wall insulation takes 3 – 4 hours to install
  • The installers will require access to your external walls
  • The drilling process can be quite noisy, generate a small amount of dust and create some vibration in the walls
  • The insulation material used will be mineral wool, polystyrene beads or foam. All materials are non-hazardous to your health, do not emit any smell, and are fully approved by the British Board of Agrément and British Standards.
  • Up to 12 weeks following completion of the works you will receive a Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA) 25 year guarantee. Please keep this with the paperwork for your home as it should be passed onto the next occupier should you move in the future

Step 1

A series of small holes will be drilled into the external walls of your property

Step 2

The insulation material is blown via a nozzle through the small holes into your wall cavities

Step 3

Once the filling process is complete the installers will re-mortar and finish the small holes making every effort to match your existing walls as far as reasonably practicable

Step 4

If you have any airbricks or air vents in your external walls the installers will ensure that they are sleeved to maintain their operation. Where they are not sleeved, a new sleeved air brick/vent will be installed. Redundant air bricks/vents will be sealed to prevent water ingress

Step 5

If you have any gas or solid fuelled appliances in your property the installer will check the safe operation of these appliances after the cavity wall insulation is installed

Step 6

Once all of the work is complete the installers will sweep up surplus debris
