This guide outlines the stages involved in the assessment of your property for a heating system and what you need to do before, during and after each stage of the process.

Apply for your free home assessment

Before the assessment

Please can you ensure that:

  • Your home has adequate insulation. A lower boiler output is required by a well-insulated property. Contact us if your insulation is lower than 100mm in the loft or if you don’t have cavity or solid wall insulation.
  • The assessor can park a van within close proximity of your property.
  • You have read the assessment Terms and Conditions.
  • You have signed both copies of the Customer Assessment Confirmation Form.
  • The assessor can access your heating system, pipework, radiators, loft, basement or airing cupboard.

During the assessment

 The assessor will:

  • Contact you the day before your assessment to ensure the date is still convenient.
  • Collect your signed Customer Assessment Confirmation Form (enclosed with this pack).
  • Carry out a technical site visit during the assessment which normally takes 1-2 hours.
  • Verify that your property is suitable to accommodate a new boiler system and/or radiators as requested.
  • Consider the condition of your current heating system, including pipework, tanks and radiators.
  • Work out the location of the boiler, radiators, thermostats, controls, drains and flues and discuss these with you. Your local authority may need to know about the position of the flues.
  • Find out if a new gas supply pipe is necessary to comply with the latest HSE and Gas Safe Register guidelines on permissible pressure drops between the gas meter and the appliance.
  • Advise you on electrical upgrades that may be required.
  • Identify if pump over-run wiring is required, and advise if it may disrupt your carpeting and/or decoration.
  • Advise if there is any work that you should undertake prior to the installation of your heating system.
  • Provide you with a guide price for the recommended work
  • Advise if there will be any extra costs over and above the standard installation prices.

Please note:
the assessor may require access to, and use of your, electricity supply in order to complete the assessment and/or installation. Please contact us on 0800 321 3456 if this is not possible.

After the assessment

If you decide to proceed with your application following the assessment, the installer will inform us and we will then send you the following documents for your consideration:

  • Formal quotation with a breakdown of costs and installation requirements.
  • Copy of the customer terms and conditions of our entire service to you.
  • Customer Installation Confirmation Form.

Once you have confirmed you are happy to proceed and have signed and return the Customer Installation Confirmation Form to us, along with your 25% deposit if paying by cheque, an advisor will you contact you to:

  • Book a convenient date for your heating system installation to be carried out.
  • Take your 25% deposit if you would prefer to pay using debit or credit card.

Please note: if paying by credit card, an additional fee of 1.05% of the total amount paid for by credit card will be added and taken at the time of the payment for which the credit card is used.
